Acts 1:6

Acts 1:6-8 When they therefore were come together, they asked of him, saying, Lord, wilt thou at this time restore again the kingdom to Israel?
And he said unto them, It is not for you to know the times or the seasons, which the Father hath put in his own power.
But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.

V6. They asked if HE would restore the kingdom to Isreal. Why would they ask that? Well, the Jews repeatedly refer to the Messiah as someone who was to take over as king. Something from a physical standpoint. King Herod was so convinced of this that he tried to kill the baby king before his own life would be in danger of this impending uprising and take over.

I would like to know how the prophecies were explained to the people. Did they believe that this coming Messiah was to be the SON of GOD? Was HE to be GOD made man?

But also notice that JESUS didn't correct them. They were still speaking from a human standpoint. Yet, HE answered them by saying that it still would take place just in GOD'S timing. So what is this kingdom that is to be restored to Isreal?

If anyone knows the answers to this please give me some insite. In the meantime I will try to find some resources to explain.
