Sweet Little Girl
DH's grandma is in a nursing home on a feeding tube and unable to communicate very well. She looks like she is sleeping most of the time. Occasionally, she will open her eyes and try to say something. We usually can't understand her. She moves her hands and sometimes they shake. My father-in-law is there almost every day taking care of her. Receintly he has been spending time with a dear lady who is now his girlfriend. WooHoo! Just some background for this little story.
Father-in-law was out of town one weekend and asked us as a family to go see grandma and clean out some flem that was stuck in the back of her throte. Ew, but she needed it, so we went.
As you can imagine it was not a pretty task. DD looked on with concern as we worked on Great-Grandma. She came around the bed to where GG's hand was shaking and reached tenderly for it. Then she kept repeating as she stroked the hand, "It's okay, Grandma, we will take care of you. Your okay."
I was in tears. She saw a need and knew what to do to fill the need. I love her so much.
